Overview

The India Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) visa allows Indian citizens aged 18-30 to live, work, or study in the UK for up to 2 years. This is a great opportunity for young professionals looking to gain international experience.

You must enter and be selected in a ballot before applying for the visa.
If selected, you’ll have 90 days to apply and must travel to the UK within 6 months of your application.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:
Be an Indian citizen
Be 18 to 30 years old
Have a bachelor’s degree or higher (UK Level 6, 7, or 8 or an equivalent overseas qualification)
Have at least £2,530 in savings (to support yourself in the UK)
Not have children under 18 who live with you or whom you support
Not have previously held a UK Youth Mobility Scheme visa

 

Application Process

Enter the Ballot

• Free to enter
• Requires passport details, a scanned/photo ID, phone number, and email
• Next ballot: 18 February 2025 (2:30 PM IST) – 20 February 2025 (2:30 PM IST)
• 3,000 places available (majority in February, remaining in July)
• Results announced within 2 weeks

If Selected in the Ballot

You will receive an invitation email to apply for the visa
You have 90 days to:

• Submit an online application
• Prove your identity (through a UK Visa Application Centre or the UK Immigration app)
• Provide supporting documents
  You must travel to the UK within 6 months of applying

Decision Time

A decision is typically made within 3 weeks after submitting documents

 

Costs

£298 application fee
£1,552 healthcare surcharge (for 2 years)
Proof of £2,530 in savings
Application fee is non-refundable if rejected

 

Visa Duration & Travel

Valid for 2 years (24 months)
Free to enter and leave the UK while the visa is active
If you turn 31 after receiving the visa, you can stay until it expires

 

Important Notes

Only one ballot entry per person per round
If unsuccessful, you can enter again in July 2025
You cannot reapply if you’ve previously held this visa or a Youth Mobility Scheme visa
