Exam Levels and Structure

LanguageCert International ESOL exams are available at the following CEFR levels:

• A1 (Preliminary): Basic ability to communicate and exchange information in a simple way.
• A2 (Access): Ability to deal with simple, straightforward information and begin to express oneself in familiar contexts.
• B1 (Achiever): Capability to understand and communicate in English in most everyday situations.
• B2 (Communicator): Competence to communicate with confidence on matters related to their interests and professional field.
• C1 (Expert): Proficiency in a range of demanding contexts and ability to use English flexibly and effectively.
• C2 (Mastery): Mastery of the language in complex situations, reflecting a high level of fluency and precision.

Each level comprises two components:

1. Written Exam: Assesses Listening, Reading, and Writing skills.
2. Spoken Exam: Evaluates Speaking skills through a structured, one-on-one conversation with an examiner.
